A goal in each half settles feisty contest

The Saltmen edged out mid-table Willenhall Town at Walshes Meadow on Wednesday night to keep up their unbeaten run, whilst ending their opponents good form.

It was a close game with not much to choose between the two sides, however Spa created the more clear cut chances and took full advantage.

Defender Alex Dugmore netted his 7th goal of the season in just 18 games as he rose highest to head home Jack Brighton's corner after 15 minutes, and Spa could have extended their advantage if James Lemon profited from two good chances, and stand-in visiting 'keeper Daniel Lynex further denied Connor Collins and Haydn Morris in the first half.

The visitors played well and enjoyed alot of possession, however the final ball was more often than not lacking, or finishing was off target as Matt Oliver wasn't called in to any real meaningful action.
The Lockmen's best chance of the game was mid-way through the first half when Shane Grainger's determined run to the bye-line and low drilled cross flashed across the face of goal as visiting striker's couldn't connect, and the Spa defence did well to avoid.

Droitwich started the second half quickly, and within ten minutes of the restart a good run and cross from Brighton was turned in by Connor Collins in a carbon copy of the chance that Town had earlier missed, and a further goal for Droitwich which was ruled out for offside.

The Saltmen also hit the woodwork twice whilst Town struggled to threaten in a not so entertaining second half, which the main talking point was a melee in the dugout area which added 10 minutes of injury time to the game, and saw Droitwich assistant Aaron Drake sent off, and several Willenhall players yellow carded.

The following 20 minutes or so that followed produced few chances at either end, however Town were reduced to ten men when Lynex as the last man fouled Connor Baker, who was through on goal, and the game was effectively over as a contest.

For Droitwich another important three points and clean sheet ahead of Saturday's big 2nd vs 3rd clash against Wellington Amateurs at Walshes Meadow (ko 3pm).
