The Saltmen started the game on the front foot, and could have been two goals up within the opening 5 minutes, however Scott Braiden-Smith's header was cleared off the line, and Luke Molloy was off target when well positioned.
Town got the opening goal after a corner was only half cleared, and Ryan Williams in the Spa goal was helpless to stop Jake Fairhurst's volley from the edge of the area.
It didn't take long for Tipton to double their advantage, as some hesitant defending left Connor Garrett clear with just Williams to beat, and the striker made no mistake with a classy finish.
Spa were shell-shocked, and struggled to get into the game until just after the half hour mark, when Captain Connor Collins' header reduced the deficit.
Within 2 minutes, Droitwich had got back on level terms as Connor Baker finished well from close range for his 1st senior home goal, and 2nd of the season.
Before the break, Luke Molloy made amends for his earlier miss when he had the simple task of stroking home into an empty net thanks to great work from Collins down the right, whose drilled low cross to the back post provided a tap-in for his team-mate.
Ryan Williams then prevented the visitors from equalising from the next move, as he produced with a fantastic save from close range to deny Sam Hesson.
Spa had their noses in front for the first time in the game, just before half time, and the momentum didn't drop, as just a couple of minutes from the restart, Connor Baker netted his 2nd of the game and 3rd of the season to extend the Saltmen's advantage.
Visiting 'keeper Ben Holden had to be alert to deny Collins and substitute Perry Moss, whilst other subs introduced Jack Davies and Ellis Blakemore both had half chances that were wide of the target, as Spa dominated the beginning of the 2nd period.
The persistence paid off for the home side, as Cory Rudd also netted his 3rd of the season with a fine looping header that dipped in to Holden's net below the angle of post and cross-bar.
Droitwich took their foot off the gas and Tipton inevitably grew back into the game, however they could only create several half chances, but some wayward shooting and Williams being equal to anything struck towards goal ensured that Spa ran out 5-2 winners.
On Saturday (ko 3pm) Andy Crowther's side make the long trip to Oakengates to take on Wellington Amateurs, for what promises to be Droitwich's toughest test to date this campaign.
