Droitwich Spa put in an excellent performance at the HD Anywhere Stadium on Tuesday evening to overcome Wyrley.
The writing was on the wall almost from the first minute as Connor Collins was denied brilliantly by visiting 'keeper Jimmy Walker with Droitwich's first attack, and with the next phase the stopper was at it again to deny Jordan Cox.
It took only 6 minutes for Spa to take the lead though, with the visitors camped in their own half, Jordan Cox latched onto a through ball a executed a classy low finish across Walker and into the bottom corner.
More chances were produced by the Saltmen courtesy of some quality, slick passing moves: Collins, James Lemon, Cox and Brad Burgess were all denied, however by the 15 minute mark it was 2-0 thanks to a low drive from 18-yards out by the in-form Burgess.
Jordan Cox suffered an injury mid-way through the half, which could make him a doubt for Saturday's important match with Wellington Amateurs, however his replacement Haydn Morris found the back of the net shortly before the break, which was ruled out for offside, as was a further effort from Connor Collins.
Wyrley did respond and had a couple of decent chances to reduce the arrears and even equalize, however both Scott Gill and Dylan Cook couldn't hit the target when well positioned.
Spa were even more dominant in the second half, as they cut through the visitors back-line time and again, but Walker was again in inspired form and made several top-class saves to deny Collins, Burgess, Tilbury, Lemon, Matty Hunt and Morris.
Spa made it 3-0 to effectively kill the game off 8 minutes into the 2nd period with a fortuitous close range "header" from James Lemon which was deflected onto his head from a corner and ended up in the back of the net. Nonetheless it counts as his 18th goal in 22 games this season.
Soon after, Brad Burgess netted his second of the evening when through one-on-one with Walker. The winger came close to his hat-trick on a couple of occasions but it wasn't to be.
Connor Collins finished off the scoring and rounded off an impressive performance as he once again broke the offside trap to finish well for his 23rd goal in 23 games - the league's top scorer.
The win gives Droitwich an 8 point lead on 2nd placed Allscott Heath, whilst the Saltmen still benefit from 3 games in hand.
