Droitwich Spa 4-2 Gornal Colts

Droitwich Spa were clinical in the first half to ensure all three points against high-flying Gornal Colts.

It took the Saltmen quarter of an hour to really get going, however Lewis Phillips hit the cross-bar and both James Lemon & Ben Tilbury came close in front of 195 spectators at Bromsgrove Sporting's Victoria Ground.

Connor Collins gave Spa the lead when he beat visiting 'keeper George Roberts to the ball to stab in from close range.

It was soon 2-0 as Collins finished well from close range.

Both Cory Rudd & Ben Tilbury almost added to the lead with efforts from range, whilst both James Lemon and Collins should have added further goals before Alex Dugmore scored his second in as many games with a near post header.

Roberts had to be alert to deny Spa from running away with it, and whilst the first period was played almost exclusively in Colts' half, they had an excellent opportunity when Zak Wadley found himself through one-on-one with Matt Oliver, but he put his shot over the bar.

Ben Tilbury gave Spa a 4-0 half time lead after good work from James Lemon set him up to roll into an empty net.

Droitwich started the second half well and had further chances to extend their lead through Connor Collins, James Lemon, Ben Tilbury and Haydn Morris however their attempts were either off-target or well saved by Roberts who was much the busier 'keeper.

Colts looked more solid in the second half and enjoyed more possession, and they pulled one back on the hour mark as good work down the right from Nathan Smith found the unmarked Levi Salmon to finish off what could be the easiest goal of his career.

With 15 minutes to go Colts pulled another one back thanks to a good finish from Michael Eva, but couldn't manage to further reduce the deficit and Spa earned another good victory to remain on course for the league title.
