The Saltmen came back from a goal down with an unbelievable 4-minute hat-trick from James Lemon to continue their impressive unbeaten run.
The first half had the form book ripped up however, as struggling Darlaston took the lead on just 5 minutes.
A free-kick from the right was turned towards goal by Ryan McAllister and Spa made a complete hash of clearing as both a flailing Matt Oliver and Matty Hunt on the line couldn't clear the danger to give the Boltmakers an early lead.
Spa struggled to get going through-out the first half and, despite having the lions-share of possession couldn't find the break through in the final third and lacked the inspiration to create any serious chances against a numerous and stubborn Darlo back line.
The next best chance of the half came for the visitors, as Adrian Jones produced a wicked low cross which Jas Bandhal somehow managed to miss the target from just yards out to let the Saltmen off the hook.
Spa did create several half chances courtesy of Matty Hunt, Ben Tilbury & Cory Rudd from range, whilst Connor Collins also called Darlo stopper Aaron Morris into action as the Blues succesfully continued to defend their lead.
Droitwich then missed a penalty, as good work from Jordan Cox produced a foul in the area and Referee Barry Priest didn't hesitate in pointing to the spot.
Connor Collins struck his penalty hard and low into the corner, but Morris guessed right to make a fine save and the Blues maintained their lead going into half time.
If the Saltmen struggled attacking in the first period, the second half was the polar opposite, after what must have been a stern half-time team talk from Andy Crowther.
Droitwich came flying out of the blocks and within three minutes had equalised courtesy of Collins' powerful shot which Morris could only parry into the path of James Lemon who tapped in from close range.
It took just two minutes for Spa to go in front and Lemon was at it again finishing well inside the box.
He then completed a startling 4 minute hat-trick (a club, maybe even league record unless anyone can prove otherwise?) as a determined run and fierce shot accross goal gave Morris no chance as the ball rifled into the top corner.
Darlaston were shell-shocked and didn't recover from the 3-1 deficit as they rarely broke out of their own half for the remainder of the contest.
Aaron Morris was called upon to make several more fine saves - most notably from Connor Collins, Jordan Cox and Ben Tilbury, whilst Cory Rudd's effort from range went narrowly over and the woodwork also denied Collins from extendeding Spa's lead.
A good week-end for Droitwich, as all of their title rivals dropped points, and the clubs Under 21's produced another fine display, this time at Sutton Coldfield Town as they won by a score of 5-1 to close the gap on the other sides at the top of the table, whilst the first team regain top spot, with 3 games in hand.
