Honors were shared in this enthralling top-of-the-table nail-biter, and the Saltmen can be pleased with the useful point earned from the long journey up to Shropshire, which keeps them top of the league for now.
The other two sides who were locked on the same points as Wellington and Droitwich at the start of play (Allscott Heath and Old Wulfrunians) both suffered surprise home defeats to Tipton Town and Wrens Nest respectively.
Droitwich started much the better of the two sides in the opening 20 minutes and created numerous chances as the hosts looked nervy from the start.
Jack Davies, James Lemon and Jordan Cox all spurned chances, however Connor Collins did give Spa the lead on 12 minutes with a tidy low finish which home stopper Owen Humphries couldn't repel and soon after rattled the wood-work.
The home side upped their game and within 10 minutes were level as Mike Seeley over-complicated a routine clearance and Matt Elsmore stole in for a simple finish past Matt Oliver.
Ams turned the game on its head just several minutes later when more catastrophic defending allowed a low cross from the left to be tapped home from close range by the big striker.
Droitwich were shell-shocked, and struggled to create further chances in the first period and the hosts went into the half time 2-1 up.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, and within 10 minutes of the restart a pinpoint cross was headed back across goal by Alex Dugmore which nestled perfectly in the bottom corner.
Spa then turned the screw with Amateurs seldom troubling Matt Oliver for much of the half.
Despite a difficult playing surface the Saltmen endeavored to play their passing game and this resulted in several more chances - most notably for Cory Rudd who, after great work from James Lemon, was teed up just yards our with an open goal to aim at, but as he came sliding in the ball kicked up and went over the cross-bar.
A few moments later he atoned for that miss, as he fired in a 25-yard thunderbolt which crashed in off the under-side of the cross-bar giving Humphries no chance and Spa were in the lead once again.
The home stopper also saved well from Collins, Lemon and Cox before the visitors were denied by the wood-work once more.
A one-goal margin never looked to be enough, and Elsmore should have leveled things up when well positioned from close range, but missed the target.
The equalizer did materialize with a little over 10 minutes to play as slack marking from a corner allowed Perry to head in at the near post and ensure the points were shared in an entertaining game, played in the right spirit.
The Saltmen have no game this coming week-end, and are back in league action on Saturday 8th February (ko 3pm) when a resurgent FC Darlaston travel to Walshes Meadow.
