Spa run riot in the second half

The Saltmen thumped high-flying Allscott Heath on Saturday at Walshes Meadow to ensure the Carnival atmosphere wasn't just enjoyed in the town, but also at the football.

The first half was an even affair with the visitors shading the possession and opportunities at goal.

Droitwich struggled to put together any meaningful chances in the opening half-hour and Allscott should really have been at least two goals to the good before Spa got their noses in front against the run of play.
Rune Corinaldi and Leon Blake were a constant thorn in the side for the Saltmen's back four and Tom Fallon, Corinaldi & Max Marshall all had decent opportunities to opening the scoring.

However, the Saltmen got the opening goal on 39 minutes as James Lemon was brought down in the area by the uncompromising Jake Evans and Connor Collins made no mistake from the penalty spot.

It took Allscott just four minutes to restore parity as Lewis Phillips gave the ball away in Allscott's half and Fallon broke down the right.
After a neat combination with Corinaldi the winger cut inside and swept his shot into the far corner from the edge of the box.

There was still time for another goal though and on the stroke of half time Spa produced the goal of the game as Phillips made up for his previous error with a precision slide-rule pass which put James Lemon in to finish emphatically passed Jay Nash in the visitors' goal.

After what must have been a stern talking to at the half time break, Droitwich came out revitalized. Within 3 minutes of the restart James Lemon had an effort cleared off the line by Evans and then had further chances through Ben Tilbury, Haydn Morris and Connor Collins whilst Matty Hunt flashed a header wide from a corner.

It looked just a matter of time before another Droitwich goal, and they went ahead courtesy of a strong run forward from Alex Dugmore who combined with Jack Davies before his powerful low cross was turned into his own net by Evans.

That really knocked the stuffing out of Allscott and it wasn't long before James Lemon scored a Spa fourth after rounding the 'keeper, then Connor Collins added to the visitors woes thanks to a good finish.

James Lemon the completed his hat-trick to make it 6-1 with 15 minutes remaining and substitute Bradley Burgess rounded off the scoring with a chip shot which caught Nash in no-mans land.

An emphatic win for the Saltmen which no-one in attendance could have foreseen at half time - a perfect preparation for next week-ends big FA Vase tie at high-flying MFL Premier side Tividale.
