Tilbury double gives Spa all the points

A Ben Tilbury brace - his second in two games, was enough to send the Saltmen back to Worcestershire with all three points on a blustery afternoon in Staffordshire.

Droitwich put in an excellent first half display with the lively Callum Morris leading the line causing no end of problems for the home defence, as well as namesake Haydn Morris being a constant thorn in the side for Andy Lee.

Some flowing passing moves calved out chances for Tilbury & Callum Morris, whilst Jack Davies also hit a half chance over the bar before Ben Tilbury opened the scoring 15 minutes in.

Callum Morris jinked his way into the area and was felled by Ash Staunton. Ben Tilbury confidently stepped up to dispatch his second penalty in as many games as he sent home stopper Joe Williams the wrong way.

Spa continued to dominate the play, and when out of possession the Spa forwards hounded down every pass.

More chances came and went for Tilbruy, Haydn Morris, Callum Morris and Jack Davies, however Jack Allerton came closest from 30 yards as his speculative effort came crashing back off the cross-bar.

Wyrley barely troubled the Spa goal, however Ben Derbyshire did find himself in behind the Spa defence, Matt Oliver pulled off an excellent save to deny the home forward to ensure Spa went in 1-0 to the good at the break.

The second half continued in a similar pattern to the first, and Spa looked to be denied a clear penalty as Callum Morris turned a few yards off the goal-line and was brought down, however the referee allowed play to continue whilst Morris had to be substituted after the challenge.

Droitwich made in 2-0 courtesy of another fluid passing moving which culminated in a pin-point Jack Allerton pass to Haydn Morris who laid the ball of to Tilbury who made no mistake from a tight angle.

Wyrley reduced the arrears soon after, as a good save from Matt Oliver fell to Josh Tolley who had the time to control on his chest before smashing home from close range.

Droitwich had further chances to extend their lead, none more so when substitute Brad Burgess found himself through one-on-one with 'keeper Williams, but he screwed his shot well wide.

Another substitute Dan Cottrill also sprinted clear, and appeared to be fouled in the area as he was just about to pull the trigger, but Referee Harry Walker again waved away the protests, but it didn't matter too much for Droitwich as they ran out deserved victors without too much trouble to their goal.
