Solid away performance brings 3 points and 3 goals

The Saltmen put in an excellent all-round performance to see off Allscott on a balmy day in rural Shropshire.

Droitwich started quickly and raced ahead after only three minutes.

A neat passing move culminated in Jack Davies, deployed on the right wing this afternoon, thread a through ball through to James Lemon who turned and finished well past the on rushing Dan Pilkington in the home goal.

That set the tone for much of the first period with the visitors in the ascendancy playing some of their best football so far this campaign.

They had further chances to extend their lead as Jack Davies, Ben Tilbury and James Lemon all had missed opportunities as Pilkington kept the hosts in the game.

The Saltmen did double their advantage mid-way through the half as Jack Davies's low drive was parried by Pilkington into the path of Tilbury who tapped home the rebound from close range.

The hosts offered little going forward, and the Droitwich back-line snuffed out any threat to Matt Oliver's goal who was seldom troubled all afternoon.
More chances came and went for Droitwich before the break, but they were in control of the game and looked to add to the lead in the second period.

The beginning of the second half followed a similar pattern to the first and Spa got in behind the Allscott defence all to easily for Manager Lewis Ayres' liking. Jack Davies, Haydn Morris, James Lemon and Ben Tilbury were all denied by Dan Pilkington who had a busy afternoon making several excellent saves.

Spa did eventually net their 3rd of the game on the hour when Morris fed James Lemon whose close control and lay-off set up Tilbury who took a touch out of his feet to place a shot into the bottom corner via a deflection.

The Saltmen took their foot off the gas for the remainder, and Allscott did force Matt Oliver into a couple of saves. A determined run forward and strike from Ryan McLean went narrowly over the bar, while Max Marshall had a shot well saved by Oliver late on being the hosts' best occasions.
All in all an excellent performance from front to back was put in by Droitwich who maintain their position at the top of the table.
