Spa ease to victory in the end

Droitwich started October with a fine result at Delahay Meadow over lowly Bromyard Town.

Despite the heavy defeat, Bromyard had plenty of endeavour and until the second Spa goal went in, the hosts were on top in this WMRL Division 1 contest.

It was an even start to the game with good spells of possession for either side, however the hosts struggled to fashion any kind of clear cut opportunity, though Ryan Glenister, Lewis PHillips, Nathan Myers and Jake Hollylee all had efforst from distance which never troubled Matt Oliver in the visitors' goal.

Droitwich created several chances themselves, with James Lemon missing a couple of opportunities before the break-through on 22 minutes as Matty Hunt rose highest to head home a Haydn Morris cross.

The game turned into a midfield battle and Spa were knocked off their stride, but again Town could get a clear sight of goal to match their possession.
Droitwich created some half chances themselves after good work down either wing from Burgess and Morris, but 'keeper Alex Rhodes was not further troubled as the visitors overplayed when well positioned.

The start of the second half followed a similar pattern to the first with plenty of Bromyard possession but the final ball was lacking.

Droitwich, against the run of play, nicked a second when centre-back Matty Hunt again rose highest to head in from close range for his 2nd of the game.

It was at this point that Bromyard's heads dropped and the Saltmen were ruthless from that point on playing some quick, flowing football that the home defence struggled to get to grips with.

It wasn't long before Dan Cottrill scored Spa's 3rd, when Captain Mike Seeley's powerful low drive cannoned back of the post, the youngster was there to turn home the rebound.

James Lemon then got in on the goal-scoring act after a poor touch from Ryan Stringer allowed Bradley Burgess to nick in and pull the ball back to Lemon who tapped home from close range.

Lemon's second was soon to follow when substiute Lucas Edmonds broke away down the right with lightning pace and once more found Spa's leading scorer to finish well with 20 minutes still to play.
Last season's golden boot winner rounded off the scoring and his hat-trick when he latched on to Allerton's through ball and tucked the ball under the on-rushing Rhodes.

Lemon could have further added to his tally but another powerful strike hit the stantion and on another occasion Rhodes acrobatically tipped his long range drive over the bar.

Matty Oliver was called in to action on one occasion in the second half as he saved well from Matt Middleton's strike, but Aanother clean sheet for the stopper and all in all an excellent night's work from Droitwich who climb back up to 2nd in the table with +21 goal difference.
