Droitwich Spa 2-0 Old Wulfrunians

Droitwich Spa returned to winning ways thanks to a 2-0 win over struggling Old Wulfrunians.

Spa controlled the first half, with Sam Hawker in the home goal only called in to action once - a comfortable save from Jacob Bate.

However, the hosts didn't make their dominance pay and plenty of chances came and went.

Haydn Morris was terrorizing Liam Evans down the left flank, and the winger had three excellent opportunities to put Spa ahead - the best of which after cutting inside he hit a tame shot straight at Wulfs' stopper Jamie Bostock.

Bostock had to be alert to deny James Lemon and Bradley Burgess in the first period, but Spa did get the goal their dominance merited when James Lemon raced on to a long ball and finished well passed Bostock in to the corner.

Lemon was further denied when Bostock acrobatically tipped his effort over the bar, and then Haydn Morris was denied as Bostock was able to get a strong hand to his shot to help it on to the post and out.

Wulfs came out for the second period like a different side, and controlled the half for long spells which served for a nervy end for the Spa faithful.

Sam Hawker made a good stop from Daniel Patrick, but for the most part the Spa back-line defended well and restricted the visitors to few chances despite their dominance in possesion.

After Spa had defended a string of corners late in the game, they hit Wulfs with a sucker punch on the break when a through ball eluded Liam Evans and Bradley Burgess raced clear and squared for Ollie Thompson who had a simple tap-in into an empty net to register his first senior goal.

The referee blew the whistle moments after and Spa celebrated their 3rd win & clean sheet of the season and their 10th consecutive victory at Walshes Meadow.
