Both sides came into this game making changes to their starting 11's yet both also needed to record victories to maintain their current positions in the league table.
A win for Alvis would mean just one more point is needed to mathematically secure the title , however with a goal difference of +18 on nearest rivals Chelmsley Town the top two look likely to remain where they are.
For the Saltmen, 3 points was necessary to aid their battle to retain 3rd place.
Alvis started strongly and could have been two nil up before 60 seconds had elapsed with McGrath and Cutting calling Oliver into action to pull off 2 great saves.
Oliver was again to the rescue from Galdins while Cutting put an effort while whilst one-on-one.
Droitwich started to settle after a nervy first 20 minutes as the rain started to lash down at Green Lane. Nick Seabourne was causing havoc down the right wing and could have given Spa the lead. Half chances also fell to Molloy and Finch while Lemon's hard running almost forced Hooker in the Alvis goal to a howling error.
The score was 0-0 at the break and Spa started the second half on the front foot without really causing any problems. Leading scorer James Lemon was substituted on the hour mark after tweaking a muscle as well as Alvis's impressive full back McGrath.
Droitwich then decided to revert to a long ball game which proved ineffective and Alvis looked more threatening as the game wore on. Oliver was again called into action on numerous occasions to save the visitors.
Then the turning point of the game came with 15 minutes remaining. Cranage's cross low from the right was handled by Mike Seeley in the box - altho from a matter of yards away and going to ground to make the block, there was little Seeley could have done - a classic case of ball to hand however the referee pointed to the spot and Galdins finished well to Oliver's left to give the hosts the advantage.
Droitwich then piled on the pressure forcing a number of corners. The best chance fell to Finch but he couldn't finish at the near post as Hooker made a decent save. The home stopper also denied Seabourne as he reached the ball just before the wide man.
Then, in the last minute, a routine throw by stand-in right back Ward fell short of Oliver and the fresh legs of Cook having recently come off the bench beat the otherwise exemplary Droitwich 'keeper to the ball and rolled it into an empty net to seal the game.
There was still time for Spa to create more chances and Seabourne's powerful header cannoned back off the cross-bar. A very tough game and a dress rehearsal of next Monday's Cup Final.
Droitwich looked leggy and tired after the Cup Final exploits of 2 days ago and never really got into their rhythm save a couple of 10 minute spells - however credit must go to Alvis for a very disciplined and well organised performance which nulified Spa's threat.
The Saltmen slip to 4th as Paget triumphed at lowly Barnt Green, yet Spa will be hoping Alvis can do them a favour on Saturday when they host Paget in their final league game. Droitwich finish their league campaign with another testing trip to 5th placed Rostance Edwards.
