At a rain sodden Robins Nest, these two teams fought out a 2-2 draw.
It was Droitwich who asserted their dominance from the word go - makking in-roads in to the Knowle defence without really troubling the 'keeper.
In midfield, Spa tended to sit back and Knowle were winning many of the second balls however did little with this and Oliver in the Spa goal scarecly touched the ball during the first preiod.
Chances came and went for Burgess, Crisp, Lemon and Seabourne while Brighton was a whisker away from scoring direct from a corner.
Seabourne did have the ball in the back of the net opn 30 minutes but his superb header was disallowed - presumably for a push.
The second half started with Knowle looking the hungrier of the two sides battling hard in the midfield, however Spa eventually took the lead after an excellent free kick from Brighton was deftly flicked into the bottom corner by Lemon to edge Spa in front.
They kept on piling forward - Nick Seabourne's speculative effort from a narrow angle after a gut busting run was well saved by the 'keeper and moments later Seabourne hit the post after breaking free of the defence.
Burgess was put through one on one but his tame effort was straight at the advancing 'keeper.
Max Crisp then hit the bar and from the rebound Burgess was brought down in the box.
Lemon confidently stepped up and converted the penalty to give the visitors a deserved 2-0 lead.
The turning point came soon after - Burgess was brought down in the middle of the pitch and after a scuffle was shown a red card - much to the amazement of everyone in attendance and both sets of players! No-one was quite sure of the decision both after protest Burgess sloped off the pitch and Droitwich were left to play the remaining 20 minutes with 10 men.
Knowle sensed an unlikely comeback could be on and became more positive in their approach play.
Their persistence paid off after good work and a peach of a cross from the right was headed in powerfully from close range giving Oliver no chance.
Droitwich proceeded to deal with everything relatively comfortably and the introduction of Burleigh up front gave some added vigour at the other end - looking lively and causing problems.
What was to happen deep in stoppage time was an inexplicable error. A hopeful ball lumped upfield should have been a routine clearance or collection for Oliver, however he completely sliced his kick and it fell kindly to Craine who with the goal at his mercy couldn't miss and duly slotted home the equaliser for 2-2 much to the dismay of the Slatmen and their large travelling support.
Spa do go up to second in the league on goal difference, however will have to pick themsleves up quickly on Monday evening when they travel to face a huge test against in form Paget Rangers (ko 7.30pm).
