Cinderford Town and Droitwich Spa played out an entertaining 0-0 draw at The Causeway ground that had a bit of everything apart from a goal!
The Foresters made the early running, getting the ball into some promising positions without troubling Spa's Dom Rogerson.
Conversely, Spa had the best chance of the first half when Jack Brighton played Perry Moss through on goal, but the in-form winger saw his shot well saved by Lewis Adams.
Nathan Binner then fired a shot wide from the edge of the area, and that was as good as it got from Droitwich in a below par first half.
Town had some good opportunities to take the lead through an Owen Taylor header and a McCauley Power drive, who looked to capitalise on defensive mistakes from the visitors, but neither called Rogerson into a noteworthy save.
Reiss Taylor-Randle had the last half chance of a tetchy first half, but his header was deflected into the path of Adams who held the ball well.
The sizeable away contingent present had hoped for a second half reaction from the Saltmen, however it was Cinderford that upped their game and Andy Crowther's men were fortunate that the Foresters had left their shooting boots at home.
The first effort on target fell to Spa's Binner, against the run of play when he struck an off-balance effort straight at Adams.
Rogerson's only save of the game came just after the hour mark when a McCauley Power effort from distance was well tipped over the cross-bar.
From the resulting corner the same player found himself in acres of space but from close range blazed a volley well over.
The game changed when Jay Sauntson received a straight red card for the Saltmen, leaving Droitwich to see out the remaining 25-minutes of the contest with 10-men.
However, it was Spa who defended resolutely and calved out the better chances in the closing stages; Charlie Tilley and James Lemon both went close within 3 minutes of each other, and Jack Davies's powerful drive from distance fell just the wrong side of the post.
Town replied through three efforts from Kian Davies, none of which were on target, but despite the numerical disadvantage, it was Droitwich that squandered two huge chance within the last 5 minutes.
The tireless James Lemon rounded Adams and instead of shooting into an empty net, decided to square for substitute Joe Hurdman who scuffed his shot into the ground from close range, and Town breathed a sigh of relief as they cleared their lines.
Then, in injury time, the two substitutes combined as some great play and through ball from Spa's Jack Davies sent Joe Hurdman away down the right flank, he cut inside and with Lemon closing in, chose to hit a curled effort that was bottom-corner bound, had it not been for the strong hand of Lewis Adams who saved Cinderford.
That was the final action of the game, in which Droitwich can be please to have come out of with a point considering the circumstances, but rueing not taking a win back to Worcestershire.
It was the Saltmen's 10th game unbeaten going into next Saturday's FA Vase 1st Round tie in Nottingham, where Droitwich face Radford FC.
