2nd half Collins double from the spot secures draw

The Saltmen got out of jail on Saturday as OJM Black Country's second half meltdown ensured a share of the spoils.

Neither side had played a competitive game since Boxing Day, however the hosts had used the time off to play a friendly inbetween, an inspired choice, as they came racing out of the blocks to take the lead with just 1 minute played.
From the kick off, Greer was put through on goal but the returning Rogerson, making his comeback from a 3-month injury made a smart save to deny him, and Nathan Binner cleared for a corner.

From the set piece, Nimmo's thumping header came back off the crossbar, Spa failed to clear and Louis Conway stabbed home from a few yards out.

OJM controlled the first half in particular, but on 10 minutes Droitwich were level as poor home defending allowed Collins to tee up Moss who finished well from 12 yards out.

Parity was only restored for 3 minutes, as Droitwich lost possession on the halfway line, Taylor Hommer found himself with space and time down the right to pick out Greer who had a simple tap in with Spa scrambling to get back.

OJM continued their dominance and should have gone further ahead when Nimmo's free header from yards out missed the target.

Spa lookeed rusty and were on the ropes for much of the encounter, but did enjoy a 10 minute spell of positive play without forcing Tom Clapp into a save as both Charlie Tilley and James Lemon headed wide.

The hosts deservedly extended their lead on 42 minutes as Molloy lost possession and the ball was worked to Jordan Sangha who made no mistake with a close range header, and despite the two-goal margin, the score was flattering on Droitwich.

Cory Rudd did force Clapp into a flying save to deny a trademark 35-yard drive as the home stopper acrobaticly tipped the top corner bound effort over the bar just before half time.

Poor conditions were tough on both sides to play in, and unfortunately the Saltmen lost both Nathan Binner and Scott Braiden-Smith to injuries whilst Jabber Ahmed was sidelined for the hosts.

Droitwich made a good start to the second period, no doubt after some stern words at the interval from Andy Crowther, however OJM were more incisive and Sangha spurned 2 glorious chances within the first 10 minutes of the restart.
Matt Jackson was then introduced at left back for his debut, and soon after Spa were handed a lifeline when Perry Moss was clumsily taken down in the area.

Connor Collins made no mistake from the spot and it was game on with just over 30 minutes to play.

OJM stemmed the flow and Droitwich struggled to create any meaningful chances, but the hosts were determined to make it more difficult for themselves as on 68 minutes James Lemon raced clear of the defence with only Clapp to beat but, as the last man, Conway needlessly brought him down from behind and was shown a straight red card.

Droitwich smelt blood but a series of inprecise set pieces and a lack of inspiration going forward saw Clapp continue to be a virtual spectator and the game petered out with OJM happy to preserve their lead.

However in yet another twist, Moss's determination lead to a 2nd Droitwich penalty kick when he got to the ball first and was clipped from behind.
The referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and Collins saved an unlikely point for Droitwich, in an uncharacteristic display from both sides.
