Saltmen cruise to 6th straight win

With Droitwich's closest rivals at the top of the table not in action on Saturday, the Saltmen took full advantage as they put in a competent display to dispatch lowly Paget Rangers at Kingys to go 3-points clear with a game in hand. It was Paget's 2nd consecutive 5-1 defeat having been beaten at Coton Green by the same score-line last Saturday.

Droitwich started the game well and kept possession on a difficult surface, and on 18 minutes Luke Molloy broke the deadlock, then 6 minutes later Connor Collins netted his 101st Spa goal after a good finish at the far post.

The Bears did well to lock the door for the remainder of the first period, the closest Spa came to a 3rd was when Perry Moss's 20-yard drive was deflected over before Scott Braiden-Smith's powerful header was well saved by Paget's on loan Walsall goalkeeper George Barrett.

Droitwich continued the 2nd half where they left off from the first with the match at their discretion, and it wasn't long before the lead was extended as Barrett turned from hero to villain.
After receiving a backpass the Bears stopper dribbled around Collins, but his 2nd touch was too heavy and Spa Captain James Lemon was there to nick the ball away for a simple finish into an empty net.

Alex Dugmore then fired over before Perry Moss added a fourth for Droitwich on 62 minutes as he latched onto a precise through ball then kept his cool to finish well passed Barrett.

Paget offered little attacking intent all afternoon with Chadwick not being forced into any save of note, but the Birmingham side reduced the arrears on 70-minutes after the Spa defence switched off, Dejon Miles's low cross provided a simple tap in for Tobias Marshall from yards out.

Just two minutes later however the home sides' 4-goal lead was restored as Molloy's corner was headed back across goal by Dugmore and Callum Green was on hand to head in from close range for his 2nd of the season.

Droitwich could have further extended their lead through Collins and Josh Hurdman who narrowly missed the target, before Barrett produced two more fine saves in stoppage time to deny Jamie Lucas, but Droitwich deservedly claimed all three points in a dominant display.

On Tuesday night, Droitwich are at home again as they host Smethwick Rangers in the League Cup 1st Round (ko 7.45pm).

Next Saturday, due to Ingles' involvement in the FA Vase, Droitwich won't play again until Saturday 4th November (ko 3pm) when Chelmsley Town are the visitors to Kingy's in the MFL Division 1.
