The Saltmen put in a dominant display to earn their 20th victory of the season with a 5-0 win over bottom of the table Haughmond at Kingy's. The win lifts Spa to within just 1 point of the play-offs, and the margin of victory which could have been higher still, will do Andy Crowther's men no harm at all.
Droitwich started in blistering fashion as within 30 seconds some trickery down the left flank from Captain James Lemon followed by a pin-point cross gave strike partner Connor Collins the simple task of heading in, completely unmarked from close range.
Collins then came close with a headed effort, but he added to his afternoon's tally to put Spa 2-0 up with 9 minutes on the clock thanks to a threaded through-ball that split 'mond's defence and the talisman slid the ball under the on-rushing Kian Parsons in the visitors' goal.
Droitwich continued to press as Perry Moss and Jack Brighton caused havoc down the right hand side and further chances came and went for James Lemon, Moss, Luke Molloy, Collins and Cory Rudd.
Droitwich took their foot off the gas somewhat mid-way through the half and were content to keep possession, however Haughmond got in to some good positions and had it not been for a fine last ditch tackle from Alex Dugmore to block Scott Ryan's effort, the visitors could have got back in the game.
If the first half was one-sided, then the second half was dominated completely by the Worcestershire side, and their intentions were clear once again from the restart, as Collins and Molloy were both denied by Parsons.
It didn't take long for Collins to complete his first hat-trick of the season, after a smart lay-off 12-yards out allowed Collins to fire home a well struck effort in to Parsons far corner.
Andy Crowther then made several substitutions in preparation for the busy period that lies ahead. Sam Hurdman finished well within five minutes of being introduced to give Spa a 4-0 lead with 25 minutes to play, and further chances came and went for Moss, Rudd, Lemon and Molloy.
A first team debut was then given to Josh Hurdman, who was named on the bench during Wednesday evening's win at Nuneaton Griff. The youngster has made a big impression since stepping up to the Under-21's side, and it was easy to see why; he was unlucky to pull a shot across goal whilst terrorising the Haughmond defence down the left hand side with some tricky footwork.
It was his brother Sam that added his second of the afternoon however to round off the scoring with the pick of the goals - a measured finish from the edge of the area to cap a professional performance.
Haughmond seldom threatened in the second period and when they did get in to a dangerous position their finishing let them down, as Dom Rogerson had precious little to do all afternoon.
Next up for Droitwich is a testing trip to Wolverhampton Sporting on Tuesday evening (ko 7.45pm).
The Black Country side's last home game produced a 2-1 win over leaders Dudley Town, so the Saltmen will have to be at their best to take anything from the fixture which, with just a draw, would lift Droitwich back in to the play-off places for the first time since October.
