The Saltmen bounced back from two consecutive defeats with a fine 3-2 win at Nuneaton Griff on a rainy Wednesday at the Pingles Stadium.
The early signs were not encouraging, as with just 6 minutes on the clock, the hosts took the lead when Toby Bartram capitalized on an advantage played by the match official, and subsequent hesitancy in the Spa defence as he closed in on goal and finished well from a tight angle.
Droitwich were soon level, as on 14 minutes a free kick hurled in to the box by Jack Brighton fell kindly to Scott Braiden-Smith, who's shot on the turn from 8 yards out gave Dale O'Donnell in the Heartlanders' goal no chance.
The tables were completely turned just two minutes later, as Perry Moss was brought down in the area and Connor Collins converted the spot kick for his first goal in 5 appearances.
The hosts didn't test Dom Rogerson much after Droitwich got their noses in front, and Spa could have further increased their lead as Alex Dugmore, James Lemon and Perry Moss all came close.
Credit to both sides, who tried to play football in strong wind and heavy rain on what was turning in to an increasingly heavy pitch. The Saltmen started the second period brilliantly as Luke Molloy fired narrowly wide, and the visitors continued to control proceedings until the last quarter of an hour.
Spa had added a third through a close-range James Lemon tap in courtesy of the endeavor of Jack Brighton.
Perry Moss could have added a fourth when he beat the offside trap, but with only O'Donnell to beat he dragged his shot wide of goal.
Griff pulled a goal back thanks to a fine header from Liam Cross who rose highest to head in Jared Bradshaw's corner.
That set up a nervy last 10 minutes as Droitwich were content to sit back and preserve their narrow lead.
Nuneaton created several good opportunities, but Droitwich were indebted to Dom Rogerson, who first got down well to save from Mulenga, and then produced a match-winning save deep into injury time when he tipped over the bar a thunderous effort from 20-yards out.
A close game between two sides chasing the play-offs and an entertaining evening for those in attendance despite the conditions.
Droitwich host Haughmond at Kingy's on Saturday afternoon (ko 3pm), where they will be looking to add another three points to their tally to keep pace with the top six.
