5-star Spa outclass Bears

The Saltmen got back to winning ways in the League in style as they out-classed Paget Rangers.

James Lemon opened the scoring after barely 2 minutes on the clock, as his near post header beat Tommy Doyle from close range.

It was soon 2-0 as the Spa Captain was on the end of a neat exchange down the right between Perry Moss and Jack Brighton, with the latter's low drilled cross to the feet of Lemon who had the simple task of tapping home with Doyle out of position.

Without top scorer Harry Jackson, the Bears offered very little going forward all afternoon, and Droitwich could have added further to their lead, with the majority of chances falling to Lemon as he missed the target on two further occasions whilst being well positioned, and was also denied well by Doyle when through on goal.
Perry Moss also flashed an effort just the wrong side of the post, and Doyle was on hand once more to deny Spa, however the Saltmen wouldn't be denied, and Alex Dugmore rose highest to power home a header mid-way through the half.
Spa also hit the woodwork before the break, and had to settle for just a 3-0 lead at half time.

The game continued to flow in just one direction, and both Perry Moss and Ollie Thompson saw their efforts miss the target early on.

Moss scored possibly the goal of the game as a fantastic looped ball from Haydn Morris found him in acres of space, and he hit the ball first-time on the volley in to Doyle's bottom corner.

More chances came and went for Thompson, Moss and, making his first team debut, Josh Bellamy, before Keatley Charles made it 5-0 with a drilled strike from the edge of the box that took a deflection before hitting the back of the net.

Paget did net a consolation as Scott Braiden-Smith fouled Ellington in the area, and the front-man made no mistake from the spot.

The Bears will no doubt be disappointed with their showing on the day, but Droitwich were full of confidence and controlled the game from start to finish, in one of the most one-sided games that we are likely to see at Kingy's this season.

Next up, Droitwich travel to Wednesfield on Tuesday night (ko 7.45pm) in a re-arranged League fixture looking to build on some excellent form that has seen Andy Crowther's men score 14 goals in their last 3 games.
