In a close and entertaining game between two sides in the upper echelons of the MFL Division 1 table, the hosts took the lead on 5 minutes when Sam Grouse dispossessed a Spa defender and made no mistake against the on-rushing Matt Oliver.
James Lemon levelled things up on 11 minutes as against the run of play he cut in from the left hand side and chipped Knights stopper Tommy Dyche from a tight angle.
Spa made numerous mistakes at the back, and found Ashby's attacking threats of former Stapenhill man Teeney and top scorer Grouse hard to deal with throughout, as some last ditch defending denied Teeney's effort, cleared off the line.
Ashby did re-take the lead through Ashley Garner mid-way through the first half, after more hesitant defending from Droitwich, who believed there was an offside, allowed Garner in to confidently finish past Matt Oliver. There were further chances for the hosts to extend their lead before the break, most notably for Grouse who fired over from close range and the Saltmen were relieved to hear the half time whistle.
Droitwich were much better in the second period, and Jack Brighton drew Spa level with 20-minutes to play when his free-kick evaded everybody and ended up in Dyche's net.
Droitwich pushed for a winner, but on 90 minutes substitute Will Groocock rounded Matt Oliver after beating the offside trap to make it 3-2.
Just one minute later the hosts were awarded a penalty as Matt Oliver brought down Garner, which Grouse made no mistake from the spot.
There was still time for another penalty, this time for Droitwich, as Alex Dugmore was fouled and Sam Hurdman stepped up to net his 3rd of the season in just 4 appearances, however it was too little too late for the Saltmen, who tasted defeat for the first time in 8 outings, after three goals in the final 5 minutes rounded off a thoroughly entertaining game between two potent attacking sides.
Spa are on the road once more on Tuesday evening, where they will be looking for an instant reaction in another trip to MFL Premier side Bewdley Town (ko 7.45pm) in the 2nd round of the Worcestershire Senior Cup.
