The Saltmen got back to winning ways with a 5-2 home victory over Shawbury United, to end a run of three consecutive defeats.
Droitwich took the lead on 8 minutes when a deep cross from the left found the head of top scorer Connor Collins at the back post, who had the simple task of heading in to an empty net.
The visitors responded well to the setback, and Matt Oliver pulled off a good save to deny Marco Adaggio an equaliser, whilst Shawbury enjoyed some good possession.
Spa created several decent opportunities for Collins, Perry Moss and James Lemon, yet visiting stopper Will Cox was equal to any efforts coming his way.
United drew level on 36 minutes when Jeff Agyeman rose highest from a corner to head home from close range to ensure the sides went in to the break tied at 1-1.
Spa came quickly out of the blocks in the 2nd period, and a fantastic solo effort from the returning Alex Dugmore, who picked the ball up on the halfway line before taking on three players and finishing like a striker put Droitwich back in front, on 47 minutes.
Just 3 minutes later and Dugmore extended the Saltmen’s advantage with a trademark bullet header from 10 yards out, as United’s heads dropped.
Cox denied Droitwich on numerous other occasions, but was helpless to prevent Perry Moss’s precision low drive, followed by another powerful header with 20-minutes remaining courtesy of James Lemon, to put Spa 5-1 up.
At the other end, Oliver made two fantastic reflex saves, but couldn’t stop Elliot Lee’s late consolation, which rounded off the scoring for the night.
Droitwich face a tricky trip to the in-form Wednesfield on Saturday afternoon (ko 3pm), in one of only two League fixtures, due to FA Vase ties taking place.
The following Saturday, October 1st, we will be back at Kingy's when we host Smethwick Rangers (ko 3pm).
