A dismal evening of weather and a dismal score line for the Saltmen, as Droitwich Spa bowed out of the Worcester Senior Cup in the 2nd Round against Worcester Raiders, 0-3.
Despite what the score line suggests, the Saltmen put up a strong fight against Raiders.

Early on in the game, Manny Olaloko put the visitors in front – but the half was relatively quiet after that despite a multitude of quality passages of play from Droitwich. however they were unable to pull the game back to level terms, against one of the tightest defences in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division.

The second half was more exciting, and Raiders doubled their advantage soon after the re-start thanks to a strong finish from Jordan Murphy.
Droitwich enjoyed plenty of possession but were unable to carve out any clear cut chances; their best opportunity coming in the 71st minute, where Raiders keeper Emery held on to a rocket of a shot from Charlie Tilley.
The visitors added a third in the 90th minute, when a perfectly placed goal kick from Emery was over the heads of the entire back-peddling Droitwich defence and straight to the feet of Adam Taylor, who slotted it past Rogerson to close the scoring.

Despite a strong Spa performance, Raiders were just more clinical on the night as they progress in the competition.

Droitwich will turn attentions back to League matters on Saturday (ko 3pm) when Thornbury Town visit Kingy’s.
The following Tuesday, Andy Crowther’s men travel to Division 1 side Newent Town in the Floodlit Cup (ko 7.45pm).
