NEW COACH JOINS THE CLUB

DSFC Admin14 Jun - 08:50

Welcome to DSFC, Sam Johnstone

Droitwich Spa FC are pleased to announce the next addition to Manager Quentin Townsend's Management team; Sam Johnstone.

The 38 year old hails from Chippenham and currently holds a UEFA C License, and is working towards a B License.

Sam joins up with Quentin, Mark Owen & Nicola Dutson in the Spa dugout, and has the role of Coach.

Johnstone came through the Youth ranks at Chippenham before pursuing a career as a Personal Trainer and is well connected in football circles in Gloucestershire & Wiltshire.

Spa's new Coach spoke to dsfc.news about his appointment:
"I’ve always felt I was a better coach than player, and my passion for continuous development both personally and for those around me has shaped the coach I am today.
Quent and I have spent a lot of time discussing football over the years, and it's clear that we share many of the same values & beliefs about the game.

My role at DSFC will be Coaching, and supporting Mark and Quent in any way I can.

To the players and supporters; one thing I can guarantee is that I will work incredibly hard for both the team and the club.
Over the past week, I’ve spent a considerable amount of time analysing last season and looking for those marginal gains that can help us improve further.
To be honest, it’s been difficult, because the team performed exceptionally well!

I’m excited by the opportunity ahead and look forward to contributing to what is already a very strong foundation at Droitwich."

Meanwhile, Quentin Townsend said of bringing Sam onto his Coaching team:
"I’m delighted to welcome Sam to the management team.
I’ve known him for the past three years through his highly successful work in youth football, where he’s done an excellent job developing and bringing through young players.

I believe this is now his opportunity to shine in a men’s football environment, and I’m pleased to be able to give him that chance.
I’m confident he’ll embrace it with both hands.

We’re delighted to have him join us as First Team Coach. His association with Forest Green Rovers also provides us with a valuable connection to the National League, should we need it.

Overall, I think Sam will be a fantastic addition to the group, and I’m looking forward to working with him."

Everyone at Droitwich Spa FC welcomes Sam to the club and wish him every success for the season ahead
