A bouncing crowd of 217 fans watched on as Droitwich scraped a 1-0 win over Highworth Town at Kingy's on Saturday.
It was a slow start to the game in the sun, with the first chance for Spa coming in the 11th minute, when Alex Dugmore was put through 1 on 1, but Town’s James Walker collided with him - earning himself a booking.
Ten minutes later, in the 21st minute, a Dugmore header narrowly missed the bar after some scintillating skills from Perry Moss in the box.
Moss was back at it again in the 31st minute, this time having his attempt saved by Walker.
A 33rd minute free kick from Cory Rudd posed a threat, but he was unable to find the target.
Charlie Tilley also narrowly missed in the 37th minute from an impressive volley.
The Saltmen’s best chance of the half came in the 43rd minute, after Tilley sent a close range attempt flying over the bar after a scuffle in the box and the half closed at an agonising 0-0.
Highworth came out fighting in the second half, with Ashley Edenborough missing his chip over Spa keeper Joe Stockton by millimetres.
They continued pushing the Spa defence, nearly breaking the deadlock in the 59th minute, as Joe Stockton saved a 1 on 1.
Completely against the run of play, in the 60th minute, Cory Rudd broke the deadlock from outside the area to make it 1-0.
Chances lessened following this goal, with neither goalkeeper really being tested despite the end to end nature of the game.
Stockton got his hands to numerous shots in the 88th minute, calming the hearts of Spa fans. Town’s Liam Haines missed a header in the dying embers of extra time, and the game finished 1-0 to The Saltmen.
Spa are back at home again on Tuesday evening (ko 7.45pm) when bottom side Lydney Town are the visitors.
