Droitwich Spa 0-4 Cinderford Town

By Caitlin Valle

Droitwich Spa’s first home game of 2026 ended in a difficult to argue against 4-0 defeat to Cinderford Town on Saturday; Andy Crowther's sides' 2nd home defeat of the season.

The Foresters got off the mark fast, as precise passing down the left flank in the 3rd minute resulted with the ball at the feet of Kian Davis – who slotted it in to make the game 1-0.

Eventually, Droitwich managed to grow into the game, being unable to find the net in the 12th and 13th minute, with two efforts that just went over the bar.

A relatively quiet half, as nothing of note occurred until the 44th minute, with Ben Tilbury hitting the crossbar after an exquisite backheel.

Cinderford scorer Davis had one last pop before the end of the half, but was denied by Stockton and the first 45 minutes closed 1-0.

The Saltmen opened the half strongly, with an unlucky miss from Josh Hurdman in the 50th minute and an Alex Dugmore header wide in the 53rd minute upping the hopes of Spa supporters.

Cinderford capitalised on Droitwich’s lack of clinical finishing, as they doubled their lead in the 59th minute.

Town’s Sam Hunt was sent off in the 61st minute – receiving his second yellow card after a high foot on Josh Hurdman.

The action didn’t pause for long, as in the 64th minute an applause worthy chip from Jack Watts put Cinderford 3-0 in front.

Droitwich fans believed they had something to cheer for in the 85th minute with a James Lemon header, but it was ruled out for offside.

There was a second fantastic goal of the game from the visitors to make it 4-0 and round off the scoring, scored by Waugh.

In the dying embers of the game, the offside flag went up for Spa again, denying James Baldwin a scoring return to the club after 11 and a half years.

The Saltmen will want to put this result behind them as quickly as possible, but next weekend have a difficult task away at fellow play-off contenders Corsham Town (ko 3pm).
