Droitwich Spa overturned a 2-goal deficit to bag an injury time winner and claim all three points at a rain sodden Fairford Town on Saturday.
The game couldn't have got off to a worse start for the Saltmen, as on 6 minutes home Captain Luke Hitchman got the decisive touch following a goalmouth scramble to open the scoring.
Droitwich replied almost instantly as Josh Hurdman turned his marker down the left flank and produced a deep cross that Leroy Odiero did well to clear with Perry Moss ready to pounce.
It was the hosts that looked the more dangerous in the first half, and Joe Stockton produced a fine save to palm away Marcel Lewis's 20-yard drive which was bound for the bottom corner, however chances at either end were at a premium.
Jack Brighton almost marked his 200th appearance for the club with an audacious effort from the touchline, 30-yards out, that was about to dip under the cross-bar and into the top corner before home 'keeper Connor Johns was able to back-peddle and make the save of the game by tipping over the bar.
Fairford should have made it 2-0, but Odiero's close range header was wide of the mark on 20 minutes.
The last big chance of the first half fell to Spa as a tidy combination between Hurdman and Tilley set up Brighton, who shot from 20-yards through a crowd of bodies but just the wrong side of the post.
Within 3 minutes of the re-start, Fairford doubled their lead as more untidy defending from a corner allowed Adam Corcoran to prod home from a few yards out.
Droitwich hit back immediately though to reduce the arrears when Jack Brighton's teasing low cross found Alex Dugmore to turn home from close range.
A couple of substitutions from Andy Crowther eventually paid dividends midway through the half with the introductions of Reiss Taylor-Randle and Nathan Binner. Droitwich produced a much improved second half display whilst limiting a leggy Fairford to few opportunities.
Alex Dugmore could have scored his second of the afternoon as he was put through on goal, rounded Johns and shot, but Hitchman was there to clear off the goal-line.
Dugmore didn't have to wait much longer for his brace, as from the following corner he fired in a powerful header to equalize with 25 minutes to play.
Fairford were millimetres away from retaking the lead almost instantaneously when Stockton could only watch a powerful header across goal hit the face of the post before Droitwich cleared their lines.
The Saltmen produced a sucker punch to turn the game around in injury time, as a defence splitting through ball from Cory Rudd put Binner in on goal, and his clinical finish into the far corner sent the sizeable away contingent into raptures to earn Spa all three points.
Droitwich now have a 12 point cushion in the play-off places and keeps them 3 points behind current leaders Roman Glass St George, with two games in hand.
Andy Crowther's men turn their attentions to the Marsh Challenge Cup 4th Round next week, and a trip to Tuffley Rovers (ko 3pm).
