Saturday 12th September, ko 3pm vs Royal Wootton Bassett Town (A)

This coming Saturday, the Saltmen hit the road once more with a trip to Royal Wootton Bassett Town (ko 3pm) in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division.

This weekends' adversaries have had disappointing start's to their respective campaigns; Town currently sit bottom of the table at this early stage with 2 points and just four goals scored from their opening 7 games, whilst Droitwich have mustered 4 points from 5 games.

Bassett haven't won a single point at their Gerard Buxton Sports Ground home to date with both of their points won on the road, whilst Droitwich haven't registered a point on their travels, or scored a goal away from Kingy's in their opening two League games.

At least one of Saturday's sides will be changing their respective records after the weekend's round of games, which sees just four League fixtures due to the majority of the Division's involvement in the Isuzu FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round. The Saltmen lost on penalties to MFL Division 1 side Coventry Copsewood, while Bassett were beaten at Brislington.

Last season, Bassett finished 9 points clear of the relegation places, and in this same fixture fought back from 2 goals down in a dominant 2nd half performance to draw 2-2.

Town have retained the majority of last seasons' squad including their main threats Rudi Hopkins and Ben Cleary, however neither have got off the mark this season. Alfie Presley re-joined the club from Fairford Town, where he netted in 11 goals in 30 last season, and has found the net once in four appearances.
Last weekend, Bassett were beaten 1-2 at home by high flying Pershore Town.

Droitwich go into the game after a 3-0 defeat at Corsham last week, which followed a four point haul over the Bank Holiday weekend with a point against Highworth (where Spa played for an hour with 10 men) and a 7-2 dispatch of Stourport Swifts.

Manager Quentin Townsend serves the final game of his three match ban, however has all of his squad available to select from as Rohan Levy returns from suspension.
It is the start of a big week for Droitwich, who host 2nd bottom Cribbs on Tuesday evening before play-off placed Mangotsfield United, who managed a 1-1 draw at Step 3 side Gloucester City in the Emirates FA Cup last weekend, visit Kingy's next Saturday.

We hope to see the Spa faithful out in force once again and wish you all a safe journey down.
