Today (Monday 23rd September) the FA made the draw for the 1st Round proper of the Isuzu FA Vase.
Droitwich Spa FC qualified for this stage of the competition for the second time in the clubs' history having eliminated Midland Football League Division 1 side Nuneaton Griff (6-2) and Hellenic League Division 1 Bewdley Town (3-6) in the Qualifying rounds.
Spa are the only remaining Worcestershire side left in the competition, and one of just four remaining Hellenic Division 1 sides (FC Stratford travel to Kirby Muxloe, Stonehouse Town have a trip to Downton, whilst Chipping Sodbury are also drawn away at Milton United).
Now the Saltmen face a long journey to East Lincolnshire to face Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League Division 1 North outfit Holbeach United on Saturday 19th October.
Droitwich's opponents currently sit 7th in their respective Step 6 Division.
Their home record has been poor as after 7 games played in all competitions, The Tigers have won just once and lost 6, however their away form is considerably better with 6 wins from 6 in all competitions which includes Saturday's Isuzu FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round win (on penalties at Step 5 club Shirebrook Town)
Whilst the two adversaries have never met before, Holbeach played Worcester City in the FA Cup in 2015, and having drawn at Carters Park, Worcester won the replay 2-0.
The Tigers have an average crowd of 99, with the highest attendance being 122, Carters Park has a capacity of 4000 with circa 200 seats.
Holbeach's leading scorer is Ryan Cook who has found the back of the net 8 times in 12 appearances.
Formed in 1929, the Lincolnshire club have reached the 5th Round of the FA Vase on two occasions and also have calibre in the FA Cup from the times when they were playing at Step 5 and above.
We look forward to visiting a new ground and meeting new opposition in a few weeks' time, as well as a 250 mile round-trip for the encounter.
Travel details and match-day information will be announced in the coming weeks.
