Barnt Green Spatak 1-3 Droitwich Spa

Droitwich Spa registered their first three points in the league since September with a vital win over fellow strugglers Barnt Green Spartak.

With both sides missing important players, it was the visitors who controlled the vast majority of the first period and after numerous wayward efforts from Louis Bridges, Brad Burgess, Jack Allerton and Max Crisp, the Saltmen deservedly broke the deadlock on 28 minutes.

Good work down the right flank from Burgess who centred for Louis Bridges and in turn his flick found James Lemon who buried his shot from close range to give Spa a deserved lead.

Spartak then came close themselves as a deep cross was met by Dominic Strevens whose looping header was palmed over the bar by Spa debutante Sam Hawker.

Droitwich doubled their advantage soon after, as Bridges got the wrong side of Sean Keeley, controlled, cut inside and wrong-footed Matthews in the home goal for 2-0.

After the break Spartak enjoyed their best spell of the game as Droitwich were by and large penned in their own half.

Eventually their pressure told as a deep cross was headed back across goal and Reuel Prescod was their to head home from close range.

Another excellent save from Hawker at the feet of Strevens kept the score at 2-1, while at the other end Bridges' looping effort was well saved and Burgess was also denied from 2 yards out.

Droitwich, were always a threat on the break. With 15 minutes to go the 2-goal lead was restored thanks to the pace of Morris down the left who sent Lemon away, however the forward was hacked down in the area and Max Crisp impressively dispatched the penalty kick to send Spa home with all the points.
