Coton Green 1-1 Saltmen

The Saltmen travelled to New Mill Lane with no fewer than 9 absentees through injury and unavailability and ground out an excellent point at much fancied Coton Green.

The hosts made all of the early running, with Droitwich struggling to keep the ball and spent much of the opening 20minutes camped in their own half.

Matt Oliver made a great save low down at his near post from Josh Sherrington, and an even better double save to deny both Rikki Reid and Sherrington.

However, the Green got the lead their pressure deserved when a powerful drive from Goody took a deflection before nestling in the far corner giving Oliver no chance.

Droitwich finally got a grip on the game without really troubling Bowen in the home goal, however a high cross into the box should have been a routine catch for the stopper; however he spilt the ball and Macauley Finch was on hand to prod home from a couple of yards out to haul Droitwich level on 34minutes.

This rattled the hosts and for the remainder of the game they made hard work of breaking a well drilled Spa back-line down.

Finch, Lemon and Crowther all had further efforts on goal, and in the second half Oliver made a couple of decent stops from substitute Andy Millan and Sherrington.

The Saltmen's best chance of a dour second period was when Finch broke the offside trap but couldn't get his shot away.

Despite it being not the most entertaining of games, Spa can be more than happy with their battling performance and an excellent point.
