Spa in seventh heaven

Droitwich Spa avoided a potential banana skin against the league's basement side and at the same time did their goal difference no harm at all.

The warning signs were there from the first minute for the visitors with Droitwich on the attack, and that was how things stayed for the majority of the 90 minutes.

Haydn Morris opened the scoring early on - a superb strike from range from Seabourne's cross that crashed in off the bar.

More chances fell to Bridges and Seabourne to extend the lead before Jamie Smith eventually did just that after a neat one two with Bridges on the edge of the area, the left back had time to pick his spot to fire home confidently beyond Dante Belle in the home goal.

Star struggled to string passes together and were camped in their own half for much of the first period in particular. The Saltmen were having alot of joy down boh flanks and the midfield were in control throughout.

Seabourne had another two chances before Louis Bridges broke his home duck - Seabourne's chest down into Bridges's path was finished expertly to put Spa 3-0 up.

Before the break, Morris got on the score-sheet again. Smith's corner was headed out as far as Jack Allerton - his powerful shot from the edge of the area was deflected on to the post and Morris was there to tap home the rebound into an empty net. Spa may feel frustrated that they did not go further ahead such was their dominance in the first half, but a 4-0 cushion was what they settled for going into half time.

It was more of the same for the second half and Bridges scored his second of the game in spectacular fashion - a fine chip from the edge of the box over the on-rushing Belle made it 5-0 a few minutes after the re-start.

Bridges had another good chance and Burgess fired narrowly over before a neat passage of play culminated in a powerful low cross from Bridges finding centre-back Matty Hunt who connected sweetly for number 6, firing past the hapless Belle.

Continental Star then had their best spell of the game as Josh Nelson made a positive run and decent strike from close distance that flashed narrowly wide of the post, however home guardian Matt Oliver did not have a save to make through the ninety minutes.

At the other end, his opposite number Dante Belle had to be at his best to keep out Bridges, Seabourne and Lemon, before the latter notched his first goal on his return from a lengthy injury for his 13th of the season and Droitwich's seventh.
More neat passing on the edge of the box saw Finch play a decisive through ball and Lemon made no mistake from a tight angle.

Bridges then missed a decent chance after rounding the 'keeper to complete his hat-trick, and Lemon then fired straight into the 'keeper's arms when in an excellent position, however Spa will be more than happy with the performance and scoreline.
