Spa cruise to victory at below par Bloxwich

Droitwich came away with all three points in a comfortable victory at mid-table Bloxwich Town.

It was the visiting Saltmen who were quickest out of the blocks, attacking freely finding lots holes in the Town back line.

The first chance fell to Seabourne, then Burgess had a shot flash across goal.
The pairing of Seabourne and new signing Louis Bridges were causing all kinds of problems for the hosts and Bridges had a header go narrowly over before Seabourne opened the scoring on the 20 minute mark.

A neat passing move which saw Spa knock the ball around the Bloxwich area culminated in a low Brad Burgess cross to Seabourne whose flicked back-heel foxed Horan in the home goal as it sneaked over the line.

Bloxwich were finding it difficult to string passes together as Spa hounded them down in every department, and it wasn't long before Burgess added to the lead in somewhat fortuitous fashion.

A Jamie Smith corner was claimed by Horan, but the ball slipped out of his hands and Burgess was there to tap home from 2 yards out.

Bloxwich heads went down but Horan redeemed his earlier error by superbly saving Bridges' top corner bound drive and denying him again low down at the right hand post, as well as a decent save from a poweful Seabourne header.
The hosts then forced Oliver into a save and it would prove to be his only action of the game as the Spa stopper came out quickly to smother at the feet of Dougliss.

Droitwich made it 3-0 five minutes before half time. Another neat passing move and another assist for Burgess whose pin-point pass set up Bridges who expertly netted his first goal for the club from 12 yards out.

The second half was less entertaining due to some heavy rain and hail at the break which made the surface less conducive to a passing game. The high line of Bloxwich time and again caught the Droitwich front men out trying to get in behind.

Seabourne spurned two good chances and Bridges' shot didn't trouble Horan, but the first big talking point of the second period was a rash two footed lunge by a frustrated home captain John Griffiths on Haydn Morris as the referee showed him a straight red card.

Bloxwich then dug in and kept the Saltmen at bay effectively before another rash challenge from behind by Dean Williams on Max Crisp brought another straight red. Crisp was also shown his marching orders for not moving away as Williams went in for a head-butt in the ensuing melee!

And Bloxwich were to finish the game with eight men due to an injury before Bradley Burgess added a fourth two minutes from time.
A long ball from deep from substitute Adam Granger was missed by Bennett and Burgess raced onto it and slotted the ball confidently into the bottom corner to round off a comfortable win & professional performance from Droitwich, who rise to the top of the table thanks to a run of just 1 defeat in 10 league games.
