Saltmen bounce back in style

The Saltmen got back to winning ways on Tuesday night after a couple of less than convincing performances in a 4-2 win at the Valley Stadium over high flying Redditch Borough.

Droitwich started brightly and Seabourne and Lemon both had half chances - the latter forcing the 'keeper into a save.

Leading scorer Jak Albutt forced Oliver in to a decent save but on 20 minutes as Borough had taken charge, the hosts took the lead. A corner whipped into the box was met by the head of Luke Bowles giving Oliver no chance.

Another spell of Redditch pressure followed without forcing Oliver into any saves of note.

As the half wore on Droitwich got back into the game and started creating chances. Both Molloy and Morris had half chances from the edge of the box but on 38 minutes a strong run down the right flank from Nick Seabourne and low cross saw the helpless Courtney Sowe turn into his own net.

From the next attack Spa took the lead. Another Seabourne charge - he cut inside and laid the ball off to Haydn Morris. He took a touch and fired a superb 20 yard curling shot over Ryan Young into the top right hand corner and Droitwich went in 2-1 to the good at the break.

Spa started the second half as they ended the first - alot more speed in their play both with and without the ball. Morris, Molloy and Lemon all forced saves out of Young before a neat interchange on the edge of the box between Seabourne and James Lemon eventually tee'd up Luke Molloy whose equally fine strike had Young beaten all ends up.

The hosts were on the rocks and it wasn't long before Captain Andy Crowther netted a fourth from Smith's corner & Hunt's flicked header, the long serving centre back's scuffed shot beat everyone, finding the bottom corner.

Redditch also had their chance but were wasteful in front of goal - Albutt, Saunders, Westwood and Iqbal all mis-firing when in good positions.

They did get one back however when Iqbal was sent away one on one - he beat Oliver to the ball and rolled it into an empty net. The wide man went down and stayed down as play was stopped for at least 30 minutes.
Iqbal was strechered off with a suspected broken leg an having used all of their subs, Borough were forced to play the remaining 15 minutes with 10 men plus a hobbling Jamie Hatfield.

Lemon and Molloy had half chances to extend the visitors' lead while at the other end Borough should have had another but Saunders couldn't hit the target and Droitwich left with a deserved 3 points.
