Saltmen ease to substantial win

The Saltmen kept up their unbeaten league form with a 5-0 victory over Earlswood Town without a fluid performance.

The opening 20 minutes were scrappy with neither side really getting into their stride. Spa had the lions share of the possession but tended to waste the final ball and didn't ever trouble Rushe in the home goal.

From Jamie Smith's launch into the box, the most advanced Nick Seabourne opened the scoring with a looping header from the edge of the box - 'keeper Rushe was caught in no man's land and could only watch as Seabourne's glance was out of his reach.
In the next move the Earls went up the other end and scrappy defending didn't stop Playdon from hitting the post in one of Town's two attempts on goal.

Seabourne double Spa's lead as well as his own tally when he got on the end of another of Smith's pin-point crosses to powerfuly hed home at the near post as the hosts started to control the game.

More chances fell Droitwich's way most notably to Gunter and Lemon, however one minute before the break Seabourne was fouled in the box and James Lemon confidently stepped up to give the Saltmen a 3-0 advantage going in to the break.

The secong half continued in the same fashion that the first had ended with Droitwich in control - it had really petered out as a spectacle as the Earls were chasing with Droitwich not really creating many opportunities.

Some good bursts from Molloy, Gunter and Seabourne ultimately came to nothing until Molloy was brought down 25 yards out. Smith claimed a hat-trick of assists when his free kick was met by the head of Matty Hunt whose headed beat the 'keeper and went in off the bar.

Town were down and out at this stage and tiring quickly and Droitwich looked to take advantage. Seabourne, Molloy, substitute Burgess, Lemon and Crisp all had efforts on goal as the last quarter of the game was played out in the visitors's final third.

Seabourne duly got his hat-trick - good play from Crisp as he was fouled when shielding the ball on the edge of the box. Seabourne's shot was destined for the bottom right-hand corner but a large defelection wrong-foooted the unfortunate Rushe and the ball ended up at the opposite side of the goal.

Spa had further chances in the closing stages but were kept at bay and the score stayed at 5-0 until the end.
Another positive for Spa was the introduction off the bench of influential midfielder Graeme Pardoe who had been sidelined for 3 weeks with an ankle injury.
