Saltmen sweep aside local rivals

A whirlwind first half performance blew away the Millers and took the Saltmen to the top of the table for 24 hours.

It was ominous from the first minute for the hosts, who were being aggresively attacked and resorted to a long ball approach. Unfortunately for Feckenham, the attacks continued wave after wave and they couldn't deal with Spa's quick pass and move game.
Jack Brighton and Nick Seabourne were having alot of joy down the right hand side linking up well whilst bringing Crisp, Halsall, Lemon and Molloy in to play.

The first goal came deservedly on 14 minutes. Another pin-point corner from Jamie Smith dropped perfectly on Seabourne's head as he broke the deadlock from close range.

On 22 minutes Seabourne notched his second of the night - he was again invloved in the build up, continuing his run during a mazy dribble from Lemon and powerful shot from Gunter. The 'keeper spilled the shot and Seabourne was on hand to tap home the loose ball.

Just 3 minutes later Spa extended their lead and grip on the game - a disorganised home back-line was undone by a cute pass over the top from Max Crisp which sent Molloy racing away who emphatically volleyed home off the post when one-on-one with the 'keeper.

Another two goals were bagged in quick succesion - firstly Lemon beat the offside trap from Brighton's through ball and he tucked the ball under the 'keeper then Molloy was at the double - again when being one on one with the 'keeper.

And there was still time before the break for the Saltmen to miss good opportunites - Lemon, Gunter, Molloy and Brighton all missing the target in a thoroughly dominant first half.

Droitwich would have been happy to have had a similar success rate in front of goal the previous Saturday when, despite dominating first half possession and numerous chances, they could only register the one goal which was not enough to defeat Coton Green.

The second half was, predictably, a different story. Damaged limitations for the hosts and the game already won for Droitwich, most of the second half was spent in 2nd gear with few chances created.

The game sparked into life once more when Seeley - streching to win a header - fell awkwardly on his ankle and subsequently hobbled off the pitch.
With just the one fit and available natural centre back, the management team re-jigged, however it wasn't long until Jim Halsall added a sixth goal - a drive from 25 yards (which the 'keeper really ought to have saved) which squirmed through the hapless stoppers legs and in.
More chances were missed due to wayward shooting and the hosts fashioned a few chances themselves.
A consolation came after some lax defending and a jinking run from the Millers' frontman, however Spa hit back moments later. Good work from substitute Haydn Morris down the left - his ball eventually fell to Lemon via Max Crisp and a powerful shot on the turn had the 'keeper beaten all ends up at his near post from last seasons leading scorer.

Some kamikazee defending left a bit of a sour note on an otherwise memorable night and also lead to Feckenham's second goal late on, however it didn't detract too much from the result or Droitwich's first ever victory at the Entaco Stadium.
