Spa back to winning ways at Kingy's

Droitwich Spa got back to winning ways at Kingy's on Saturday to continue a run of 9 League games with 1 defeat as they comfortably overcame Wolverhampton Sporting who are still looking for their first win on the road.

Aside from the six goals scored, neither side offered much of a spectacle for the 181 in attendance, with goal-scoring chances at a premium as the two opponents cancelled themselves out.

Sporting had the first decent opportunity on 12 minutes when top scorer Leslie Omorodion fired well over when well positioned.

Soon after, Max Loveridge replied for Droitwich but he also missed the target with an effort from the edge of the area.

The hosts broke the deadlock on 33 minutes however as Charlie Tilley was brought down in the area, and Luke Molloy duly dispatched the spot kick passed visiting 'keeper Vitor Pinheiro, who guessed right but couldn't get down in time to keep out the well taken penalty.

Spa grew in confidence and enjoyed some good possession, but the closest they came to doubling the lead was when James Lemon headed over when well positioned from a deep cross.

With 2 minutes to play before the break Sporting drew level when Joel Chadwick mis-judged a corner and Connor Parker had the simple task of tapping from from yards out to ensure the honours were even at half time.

Droitwich started the second half well, however after just 4 minutes of the restart the visitors took the lead for the first time in the game.
A hopeful punt forward found Craig Tuckley, the assistant referee raised his flag for offside, Droitwich stopped, and Tuckley put the ball in the back of the net.
The Referee then went to consult his linesman and the goal was given, leaving everyone in attendance bewildered.

It wasn't long before parity was restored as the ball fell to Cory Rudd 25-yards out and the long serving midfielder unleashed a ferocious volley which nestled in the top corner, giving Pinheiro no chance.

Droitwich were in the ascendency, and Lemon almost increased Spa's advantage with a close range header before Perry Moss gave Spa the lead again on 63 minutes after a jinking run, he cut inside and fired a pinpoint effort in, which Pinheiro may feel he could have done better with.

Spa continued to dominate the possession but didn't carve out any noteworthy chances, but the referee pointed to the spot once more as Jack Brighton was adjudged to have been fouled with a little over 10 minutes to play.
Molloy again made no mistake despite Pinheiro getting a hand to the penalty to make it 4-2 to the Saltmen and put the game out of reach.

Danny Barnes, a product of the clubs' youth set-up, made his home debut, as did new signing Jamie Lucas and Niall Doherty, who had been injured from pre-season.

Next Saturday, Andy Crowthers' side travel to Nuneaton Griff for another Midland Football League Division 1 encounter (ko 3pm).
