Saltmen 2-1 Inkberrow
Spa through to Semi's despite nervy ending
A Dan Cottrill double was enough to secure Droitwich's place in the Semi Final of the County Cup, but it wasn't all plain sailing against MFL Division 3 outfit Inkberrow.
Droitwich dominated the first half however didn't create too many chances of note. Some fluent passing moves opened up the visiting defence time and again but all too often the final ball was lacking.
Half chances came and went for James Lemon, Brad Burgess and Ben Tilbury, and Spa did make the breakthrough after some sublime skill from Tilbury on the edge of the box set Cottrill through and he finished clinically.
Ben Tilbury also had the ball in the back of the net with a wonder strike from the edge of the box, but his effort was ruled out for an offside call.
The visitors only threat came from a long ball tactic looking for the pace of former Saltman Nathan Davies, but Mike Seeley and Andy Crowther at the heart of the defence snuffed out the danger without too many problems and Spa went into the break a goal to the good.
Haydn Morris made way for Jack Davies at the break, but the visitors were well and truly on the front foot for the majority of the half.
Droitwich doubled their lead just before the hour against the run of play thanks to Jack Allerton's precise through ball and Cottrill raced clear of his marker to slot home his and the Saltmen's 2nd of the game.
matt oliver was called into action several times - one excellent save low to his right to deny Ollie Coughlin the most notable, but there was little he could do to prevent the goal of the game from the visitors - an excellent cross and even better header from Tom Clewes from 12 yards out gave the home stopper no chance.
Inkberrow threw everything forward for the last quarter of the game including 'keeper Jack Turner as they forced a string of corners, but Droitwich held firm to progress and could also celebrate the return of Chris Glover, Matty Hunt and Brad Burgess from injury as both Max Crisp and Mike Seeley will miss the next two matches.
